With flight prices constantly on the up, and especially during school holidays, many people are turning to holidays in their home country rather than travelling abroad. This has proven to be an excellent alternative to travelling abroad, as not only is it much cheaper, the language is more familiar, and you’ll be able to see all the different sights, tourist attractions, and natural wonders that your home country has to offer. Many people who holiday in their home country do so in big camper trailers. Because it’s easy to tow camper trailers with your car, they’re an excellent option for holiday accommodation as you can move around and visit many different places with them. You may even be able to get a trailer or caravan that is all in one, meaning that you can drive it too so you won’t have to hook it up to your car first. They’re available for hire from many different trailer and caravan companies, although most people who holiday in them regularly find that it’s more cost effective to buy their own, as they don’t require much maintenance and can be parked on a driveway or in a garage.
If you love the great outdoors, going camping is a brilliant way of going on holiday in your home country. You could visit a designated campsite, or if you’re feeling more adventurous, find an area where you can camp – although be careful, as most landowners will want you to gain their permission before you set a tent up on their land. Camping is also really cheap, and you can buy many different sizes and styles of tents from most outdoor sports shops, hardware stores, or even supermarkets. It’s also a brilliant idea if you like cooking outdoors, as you’ll be able to have barbeques and camp fires every day that you’re away.
If you’re not keen on the idea of a caravan or camping holiday but still want to go on vacation in your home country, you may be able to find self-catering holiday cottages aimed at people visiting for a home holiday. This is a great option if you’re planning on travelling with your family, and many holiday cottages are aimed at those who are on a trip with their children. You’ll be able to find them in many areas, although there will usually be significantly more near tourist or attraction sites, so it all depends on where you’re planning to visit for your holiday.
